About Budgeteen
Updated 2026-08-30
Bottom line: Budgeteen is a local-first money app for teens 13+ that budgets cash, gigs, and allowance on your phone — no bank account, debit card, or parent-funded account required.
Budgeteen is a financial education app for teens 13 and older. It logs allowance, gig pay, and cash, splits the week into Needs, Wants, Save, and Give envelopes, teaches money skills, and lists jobs legal at your age. It is not a bank or debit card.
Who Budgeteen is for
Budgeteen is for teens 13+ who already have some money — allowance, babysitting, lawns, gifts, content payouts — and want a plan that does not wait for a parent to open a fintech account. A learner without income still gets the free skills roadmap, sims, and tools. Earning is optional. The product direction is learn, practice, build, understand the result, then optionally earn.
What Budgeteen is not
Budgeteen is not a bank, debit card, payment processor, or employment agency. It does not guarantee earnings or hires. Listings are curated educational examples. Follow local youth employment laws. Involve a parent or guardian when contracts or payments are involved.
Why the ledger stays on the phone
Every other widely marketed teen money app starts with a card and a parent-funded balance. That model needs identity checks, freeze risk, and a dashboard of amounts. Budgeteen stores the budget, goals, lesson progress, and applications on the device by default. Optional network features (parent invite, portfolio, Pro entitlement, scam reports) send only what that feature needs. We do not sell personal data.
What you can do in the free app
- Envelope-budget a teen week (Needs, Wants, Save, Give) with a money health score.
- Follow a skills roadmap with streaks, paycheck decoder, and decision sims.
- Plan hustles, run Shift Mode, and browse jobs filtered by age.
- See national chains that hire at 14, 15, and 16, and track applications.
- Build a Skills Card from work you actually finished.
Budgeteen Pro ($5.99/month or $39.99/year) adds AI-built learning tracks and premium lessons. It is an optional Apple In-App Purchase. Restore in Settings. Cancel in Apple subscription settings.
