Budgeteen is a teen finance learning app for people ages 13 and older. Money logs, goals, interests, lesson progress, and hustle or job applications stay on your device by default. We do not sell personal data.

Who the app is for

Budgeteen is designed for teens 13+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app in a way that stored their information on a device, contact us at support@trybudgeteen.com and we will help you remove local data. This is our COPPA stance: the product is not directed to children under 13.

Local-first design

Money logs, goals, lesson progress, hustle and job applications, badges, interests, and your profile are stored primarily on your device using on-device storage. We do not sell your personal data. We do not sell teen data to advertisers or data brokers.

Information we process on device

Depending on how you use Budgeteen, the app may store: display name, declared age band, birth year estimate, currency preference, optional interest tags, optional parent or guardian email, income and expense entries you enter, savings goals, skill lesson checklists and notes, hustle and job application status, and badges you earn.

Optional network features

If you use parent invite or reporting and a network endpoint is configured, limited information you submit (such as a parent email or a report note) may be sent to our servers only to run that feature. Without an API URL, those actions stay on your device.

Analytics and ads

The core Budgeteen experience described here does not require selling ads against your private money log. If we add privacy-preserving analytics in the future, we will update this policy before enabling them and will avoid sensitive finance details in any aggregate metrics.

Parent and guardian involvement

Teens may optionally create a parent link. The link shows your first name, your streak, which of the last 8 weeks you logged money, which skill track you picked, how many stages you cleared, and how many briefs you passed. It never shows amounts, transactions, notes, goals, or anything you made in a Studio. The record expires after 90 days without app activity, and you can stop sharing anytime from the Parent invite screen, which deletes it right away.

Publishing a portfolio

You can choose to publish a portfolio page at a private link. It shows only the titles of briefs you passed, which studio you used, how many checks you met, and a first name if you add one. It never shows files you made, client names, your age, your email, or where you live. The page is not indexed by search engines, you can delete it from the app at any time, and it expires after 180 days without an update. Nothing is published unless you tap publish.

Purchases

Budgeteen is free and sells nothing inside the app. If you subscribed to Budgeteen Pro before it went free, the app uses RevenueCat to check whether that old subscription is still active, only so it can tell you to cancel it. That check uses an anonymous app user ID, purchase history for that product, and subscription status. We do not receive your full Apple account email from it.

Learn Anything (AI)

When you use Learn Anything, we send your typed topic, an age band, and a short aggregate money snapshot (for example week left and envelope spent-versus-budget totals). We do not send individual transaction notes, free-text goal titles, or your name beyond what you type in the topic. The primary model provider is OpenAI; DeepSeek may be used as a fallback. Providers may retain data under their own terms even when they say they do not train on API traffic. You can cancel the consent prompt and nothing is sent. Authored practice lessons never call a live model.

Your choices

You can export a local data snapshot (when available) and delete local data from Settings. Deleting local data removes the profile and related records from that device. Uninstalling the app also removes on-device storage for that install. Request deletion help for a parent-invite or portfolio record at support@trybudgeteen.com.

Security

We use platform storage protections available on your device. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Protect your device passcode and do not share screenshots of sensitive balances with strangers.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the Last updated date and, when appropriate, an in-app notice.
