Budgeteen is built to be low-risk for teens 13 and older. It is not a bank or debit card, and it never moves money. The budget stays on the phone by default, every job card carries safety notes and a Report button, and a parent link never shows amounts. Here is what that means, taken from our own policies.
Budgeteen can't touch your money
Budgeteen is not a bank, debit card, payment processor or employment agency. It can't move money, see the ledger on your phone, place a teen in a job or process Apple refunds. It asks for no bank login, card number or Social Security number. There's no bank sync and no account to create.
Your budget stays on your phone
Money logs, goals, interests, lesson progress and hustle or job applications stay on your device by default. Budgeteen does not sell personal data, and it does not sell teen data to advertisers or data brokers. For the full list of what's stored and what can leave the phone, see what data Budgeteen collects.
Scam and stranger safety
The Terms of Use say: never pay fees to unlock a role, never share banking passwords, and involve a parent or guardian when contracts, payouts or in-person meetings are involved. Every hustle and job card has Report. Community cards also have Block, which hides that contributor on this phone. Budgeteen aims to review unsafe-listing reports within 24 hours.
Crew-suggested hustles are filtered on the device and queued for a person to review. They're never a live job post, a chat or a way to hire a teen. Community rules ban phone numbers, emails, social handles, "DM me" pitches, guaranteed income, MLM, crypto, gambling, paid starter kits and anything sexual.
The optional parent link shows your first name, your streak, which of the last 8 weeks you logged money, which skill track you picked, how many stages you cleared and how many briefs you passed. It never shows amounts, transactions, notes, goals or anything you made in a Studio. It expires after 90 days without app activity. You can stop sharing anytime from the Parent invite screen, which deletes it right away.
Is Budgeteen legit?
Budgeteen publishes public Terms of Use and a Privacy Policy on this site and in the app under Legal. Support answers at support@trybudgeteen.com. The app is free: every skill track, brief and money tool is included, with nothing to buy inside the app. Listings are curated educational examples, not job offers or hire guarantees. Earnings ranges are illustrative, results vary, and Budgeteen doesn't guarantee income, employment or clients. Budgeteen says it doesn't invent testimonials or star ratings. If you subscribed to Budgeteen Pro before it went free, cancel it in Apple subscription settings so you are not billed.
Where you still need to take care
Security: Budgeteen uses the storage protections on your device, and no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Protect your passcode, and don't share screenshots of balances with strangers.
Learn Anything (AI) is optional. It sends data only after you accept a consent prompt; the data page lists what it sends.
A portfolio page is published only when you tap publish; the data page lists what it shows.
Job rules depend on your age and state. Check the federal rules page before you apply.
Is Budgeteen safe? Questions
Is Budgeteen safe for a 13-year-old?
Budgeteen is designed for ages 13 and older and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. It asks for no bank login, card number or Social Security number, keeps the budget on the phone by default, and tells teens to involve a parent before contracts, payouts or in-person meetings.
Is Budgeteen legit or a scam?
Budgeteen is a free financial education app with public Terms of Use and a Privacy Policy. It never asks you to pay to unlock a job, never moves money and does not guarantee income or hires. Its job and hustle listings are educational examples, and every card has a Report button.
Can Budgeteen see or move my money?
No. Budgeteen is not a bank, debit card or payment processor, so it cannot move money. The amounts you type stay on your phone by default, and support staff cannot see the ledger on your device. Deleting local data in Settings, or uninstalling the app, removes that install's records.
Does Budgeteen use AI with my information?
Only if you use Learn Anything and accept its consent prompt. Budgeteen then sends your typed topic, an age band and a short aggregate money snapshot to OpenAI, with DeepSeek as a fallback. It does not send transaction notes or goal titles, and authored practice lessons never call a live model.
